Where the best chia seeds come from?

Chia seeds has become very popular lately. The chia has been used to calm nerves and strengthen the memory, but it is also a great source of energy thanks to its high content of omega-3 nutritional vitamins, beneficial proteins and fibers. But did you know which is the best chia crop in the world? Where the best chia seeds come from? How is the weather like? Chia seeds grow well on sandy soils and on those of moderate fertility, although it grows better in those with a good fertility. Like most of the salvias, chia, Salvia hispanica, prefers light soils that have good drainage. In terms of the level of humidity, chia seeds are also tolerant to drought, they do not need many rains for their growth and development. However, chia does not tolerate too well an excess of moisture or frost. Chia is not affected by rains, but the crop can suffer if there is heavy rain in the time of the flowering. It also need a good sun, indispensable to produce the fruit. For all the reasons mentioned above, Bolivia is the perfect place to grow chia because it meets all climate requirements. Its soil responds to nutrient requirements that the crop requires. Maintenance of the chia crop It is very important to make a good weed control, as well as sow and harvest at the right time, the crop rotation and the soil fertilization. To be successful in the establishment of the cultivation of chia, a good time for planting is between the moths of April and May. Bloom time is related to low temperatures of winter to be able to bloom, fertilize and germinate the fruit. Chia harvest In addition to all its nutritional virtues, chia also gives us very ornamental beautiful mauve flowers. The harvest starts when the petals fall, about four months later of the sowing (120 to 130 days), according to its maturity state. If the chia is left for a longer time, the ripe seeds fall to the ground. As the harvest is intensive and on small surfaces, it is usually done manually at ground level to prevent post-harvest losses. Seeds develop in clusters, which usually continue to flourish. 20% of the bunch is still green. Then, the rest can be harvested and has a yellowish color. There are several capsules, each of which contains three to four seeds. Finally, when chia seeds reach the final consumer, it can be eaten both cooked and uncooked, seasoned on salads, beverages or any dish or dessert, bread, pastries, etc. Chia seeds are facing a new popularity among affluent consumers from North America, Europe, Japan and emerging markets. In short, chia is seen as one of the most promising crops for the future world.
