08 Dec Gold Foods USA scores highest quality rating
The National Bolivian Institute for Quality and Standards, which is certified by the ISO, recently awarded Gold Foods USA (www.GoldFoodsUSA.com) chia its highest rating – 99.95%.
Gold Foods harvests its chia in the Santa Cruz region of Bolivia, which is known for its limited rainfalls and warm temperatures practically year round. The climate is ideal for harvesting because rain, humidity and cold deteriorate the nutritional benefits of chia seeds.
“You can tell the difference between seeds by their color,” Yuste said. “Higher quality chia seeds like Gold Foods Chia have a shinier color, whether black or white. Seeds that don’t shine and that look grey or brown have been affected by the rain and colder weather. It might also indicate that the chia was harvested late in the season, giving the seeds less time to mature naturally.”
