21 Jan Chia tops the list of popular Google searches
Every year, Google discloses the list of most popular search terms by Internet users worldwide. Google measures the popularity of all kinds of searches like food, sports, arts, politics, and entertainment among others.
In 2014, chia seeds along with goji berries replaced kale and quinoa as the most popular healthy foods searched online.
For those who don’t know, “Chia seeds, also known as salvia hispanica are a sort of angiosperm family of the original mint Mexico and Guatemala, contain a particularly high level of fiber. ” For those who don’t know, the best quality chia grows in Bolivia.
However, while Google searches for chia and other healthy foods have increased in popularity, the favorite food search by far is “pizza.” In fact, the word “pizza” even beat out “World Cup.” We have to wonder if “chia” will ever top pizza?
Internet users in Japan searched more French food than those living in France. Hungry Australians searched for Argentine dishes and spice-loving Brits searched for Indian food more than people in India.
What’s clear is that in 2014, chia rose in popularity around the world and is considered among the superfoods with the most beneficial nutritional properties.
Chia has five times the calcium of milk, three times more antioxidants than blueberries or three times more iron than spinach. It also has twice the fiber of oatmeal, twice the protein of any other vegetable and twice the potassium of bananas. All these features, and the affordable price, has made people excited this superfood.
